BILL O'TOOLE

Bill O'Toole serves as Boulder Technology Capital's Managing Partner responsible for strategic planning and investment development.  Bill also leads Boulder Technology, where he serves as President with responsibility for day-to-day operations as well as leadership of the company's Business Analysis and  Application Design functions.

Prior to founding Boulder Technology Capital in 2006, Bill served as Chief Technologist for TravelCLICK Inc., a leading provider of reservation processing, data analysis, and digital marketing services to the worldwide hotel industry.  Bill was responsible for system development across all product lines for this $100 million company.  Among the several systems Bill personally designed for TravelCLICK was a sophisticated corporate intranet-extranet framework which grew ultimately to support every significant record management, order processing, invoicing, marketing and customer support function within the company's global network of business offices. Bill joined TravelCLICK when it acquired Bidtripper.com, an online retailer of specialty travel packages he founded in 1999.

Before the advent of the Internet revolution, Bill's professional focus had been in more traditional business software systems. In 1993 he was one of three co-founders of Phoenix International, a developer of client-server and, eventually, Internet banking software which was taken public in 1996. Among his many responsibilities at Phoenix, Bill created and managed the company's Web Systems group, a team that built a broad spectrum of high-end corporate intranets and custom web applications for financial institutions. In his capacity as SVP of Business Services at Phoenix, Bill was also responsible for a wide range of other operations within the company, including networking and MIS, quality assurance, customer support services, and assorted ancillary application development efforts. By the time he retired from the company in the spring of 1998, Bill had helped to build Phoenix into a publicly traded corporation with a $140 million market capitalization.

Prior to founding Phoenix International, Bill spent several years as a consultant to businesses in Ohio, Colorado, and North Carolina. He also spent three years as a technical editor and application architect at GWB Technology, a Manhattan-based developer of custom financial applications and system integration solutions.

Ironically, though he has been intimately involved with computers and software development since almost the dawn of the microcomputer age, Bill got his professional start in journalism, working as a reporter and freelance writer for a variety of publications and newspapers in the Boston area.
